The Role:
We’re seeking a Plastics Engineer specializing in injection molding tooling, with a primary focus on quoting and cost estimation. In this role, you’ll leverage your in-depth understanding of tooling design, materials, and manufacturing processes to develop accurate and competitive quotes for new projects. You’ll play a critical role in shaping customer relationships and driving business growth through tooling project management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze customer designs, specifications, and requirements to determine tooling and manufacturing feasibility.
- Develop accurate and detailed cost estimates for injection molding tooling and production processes.
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, and production teams to ensure quotes align with customer needs and company capabilities.
- Provide technical guidance on tooling design, materials, and processes during the quoting phase.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities in project proposals, offering alternative solutions to optimize costs.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, tooling innovations, and competitive benchmarks.
- Support negotiations by explaining cost drivers and technical considerations to customers.
- Assist manufacturing with project set up verification for new tooling.
- Complete storage of customer’s history, pricing and other documents as it relates to tooling and pricing.
- Responsibility over all designs and engineering changes.
What You Bring:
We’re looking for a technically savvy professional with a keen eye for detail and a customer-focused mindset. You’ll need:
- 5+ years of experience in plastics tooling with a specialization in injection molding
- A Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of injection molding tooling design, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Proven ability to analyze designs and provide accurate cost breakdowns.
- Ability to clearly convey technical and financial information to internal teams and customers.
- Proficiency in CAD software and quoting tools; familiarity with cost estimation models is a plus.
